Guardiola Will Not Give Man City an Answer Before the End of the Season

Guardiola is keeping Man City waiting on his future, with the club quietly drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements just in case.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will not make a decision about his future at the club until the end of the current season. According to The Telegraph, the Catalan coach is yet to decide whether he will remain in charge of the Citizens for another year.

Guardiola's current contract runs until the summer of 2027, and the club's board are comfortable with his approach, choosing not to apply any pressure given the relationship of mutual trust that exists between the two parties.

Despite this, Manchester City have already drawn up a shortlist of potential successors should Guardiola decide to leave. Among the candidates are former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, ex-Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso, and current Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany. The process is being overseen by club sporting director Hugo Viana. The Telegraph also clarifies that reports suggesting the club had already approached Guardiola about his plans for next season are not accurate.

Pep Guardiola has been in charge of Manchester City since 2016. The club currently sit second in the Premier League table with 61 points from 30 matches, nine points behind leaders Arsenal, though with a game in hand.
