Murat Yakin: The three points are what matter
Murat Yakin was satisfied after Switzerland's commanding 4-1 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, saying the three points were all that mattered and that the victory makes their progression to the next round virtually certain
Switzerland coach Murat Yakin was pleased after his side's 4-1 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina, a result that all but guarantees their place in the next round.
"The three points are what matter. We deserved to win — many things clicked into place: the tactics, the substitutions, the team's performance. We take it. I judge what happens on the pitch; we ignore everything else. We showed patience and struck at the right moment," said Yakin.
He also addressed the criticism directed at captain Granit Xhaka following the opening draw with Qatar.
"It wasn't pleasant for Granit. He is the captain and takes responsibility — he was the conductor on the pitch, which is what we know from Granit. There was clearly a lot of criticism after the 1-1 draw, but that makes it all the more wonderful and important that he led the team to this victory," Yakin added.
