Uruguay's domination was only worth a point

Uruguay dominated Saudi Arabia with 28 shots but could only score once, settling for a 1-1 draw in Group H.

Saudi Arabia and Uruguay couldn't be separated in their Group H clash, finishing 1-1 despite overwhelming Uruguayan pressure in the second half. Marcelo Bielsa's side fired a staggering 28 shots at goal — 10 on target — but only one found the net.

Abdulellah Al Amri gave Saudi Arabia the lead in the 41st minute, before Maximiliano Araujo equalised in the 80th. Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais was outstanding for the Saudis, making a string of impressive saves to deny Uruguay a deserved winner at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Earlier in the same group, one of the tournament favourites Spain had sensationally failed to beat World Cup debutants Cape Verde — 0-0.
